Tips for a clean lock.

Get outside

Trees, walls, and metal roofs all block satellite line-of-sight. Test where the antenna will live.

Calibrate often

Phone compasses drift near anything metallic or magnetic. Recalibrate with a figure-8 motion if the heading feels off.

Weather is fine

Echostar T1 punches through cloud and rain at Canadian latitudes. A thick cap of snow or ice on the antenna itself is the only real interrupter, so brush it off after a storm.

Aim once, mount firmly

The Canaro external antenna is a flat, self-adhesive bar. Stick it to a surface that already faces the way the phone locked, or print a mount shaped for your wall, and check the lock before the adhesive sets.

Echostar T1 (NORAD 35496) is in a slightly inclined geostationary orbit; look-angles change slowly through the day. This tool propagates fresh TLEs from CelesTrak and updates 1×/sec on your device. Nothing leaves your phone.
