Flood Restoration Operations

On any given week, the company runs anywhere from a handful to a dozen active jobs scattered across the region. Each one needs continuous humidity monitoring for days or weeks until the floor is dry enough to restore. Start too early and the restoration fails. Wait too long and the job runs over schedule.

Today, that means a crew member drives to every active site to check a handheld meter, writes the number on a clipboard, and enters it into the office system back at the shop. On a busy week, it's hundreds of kilometres of driving; and the only thing being collected is a single number per site per day.

A few sites every season fall outside cell coverage entirely; those jobs either get checked less often, or someone makes the long drive anyway.

The team needs gear that can redeploy job to job; every site is temporary, and the same hardware needs to come back, get cleaned up, and head out to the next address.

Four Canaro Hubs cover the typical residential job. Most sites have decent cell coverage, and the Hub's built-in cellular means there's nothing to configure at the customer's property; just plug it in.

One Canaro Hub Pro is the kit that goes out to remote jobs. The Pro's satellite fallback keeps readings flowing even when cell drops out, which means the crew can take on properties they used to refuse or check manually. It's also the hub of choice for unusually large jobs that need more Add-Ons than a standard Hub supports.

Ten Environment Add-Ons rotate across active jobs. Battery-powered and small enough to sit on a damaged floor without getting in the way. Two per site is typical; bigger floor areas get three or four.

One External Cellular/Satellite Antenna screws into the Pro for remote deployments. Mounts to a window frame with the included bracket; no permanent install at the customer's house.

All five hubs run Advanced features; the API access, automated reports, and phone-call alerts are core to how the company plans to use the system, and Advanced is the tier that unlocks them. Advanced also lifts the Add-On cap per hub from 3 to 12, which matters for larger jobs.

The four regular Hubs run on a Cellular plan. The Pro runs Cellular + Satellite, with the satellite fallback covering remote properties when cell signal isn't reliable.

Self-install is the whole point. When a crew shows up at a new job:

• The hub goes somewhere out of the work area; laundry room, garage, basement utility space; and plugs into any outlet with the included USB-C cable
• Environment Add-Ons are placed at monitoring points on the affected floor
• The hub's activation code is scanned through the mobile app
• The site is named (customer + address) so it shows up clearly on the dashboard
• Humidity thresholds are set for the floor type; hardwood, engineered, subfloor
• Alerts route to the assigned crew lead and the office

For remote jobs, the Pro's external antenna mounts to a window with the included bracket and screws into the Pro's main SMA port. The whole install takes a few minutes.

The office watches every active job from a single dashboard. When a site reaches its target humidity, an alert fires; restoration work gets scheduled, and the crew never shows up to a floor that isn't ready.

Every hub also captures its location automatically; no SIM-tracking app, no extra config. With a dozen jobs running at once, the dashboard map makes it obvious which hub is at which address, and which ones are due for collection.

The API pushes live readings into the company's existing job-management software, so the office team uses the same tool they always have. Canaro just becomes the source of truth for site conditions; the readings appear next to the rest of the job record automatically.

Automated reports generate from the dashboard at the close of each job. A complete, timestamped record of every reading from deployment to target, formatted for insurance submission; built without anyone having to compile a spreadsheet.

When a job closes, the crew collects the hub and add-ons. Back at the shop, the dashboard's Shelve feature wipes the devices' job-specific configuration; site name, thresholds, alert routing, the lot. The hardware is ready for the next site with a clean slate, and nothing from the last customer's job carries over.

The next morning, the same hub heads out to a new address.
